A Taste of Tapestry to be presented at History Park.

The Labor Day weekend in San Jose had become synonomous with Tapestry & Talent for 35 years. This Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4, A Taste of Tapestry will be presented by Tapestry Arts and History San José at History Park at Kelley Park in San José.

“We are delighted that Tapestry Arts has partnered with History San José,” said Alida Bray, President and CEO of History San José. “The two organizations share a mission of presenting local art and culture to the people of Santa Clara Valley, and this year the intersection of art, history, music, poetry and local creativity in all forms will bring History Park alive.”

The streets of History Park in Kelley Park will be filled with arts and local craftsmanship, music and entertainment from 10 AM to 6 PM both days of A Taste of Tapestry.

“Since 1976 Tapestry and the Arts, now Tapestry Arts, has been dedicated to celebrating the Bay Area’s local artists, musicians, and businesses that value a well rounded approach to life and by their very nature weave together the components that make up the tapestry of life itself; Tapestry Arts continues to value and support creativity in all of its forms ” said Joelle Maletis, event director.

Featured artists include Comstock Art Glass, Uniquely Yours, 3rd Digital Photo, ADC Design, Daris Sulus Jewelry, 360 Fusion, Dream On, Dawn Mountain, Noni-Jones, Lazy Dog Designs, Antique Sleuths, Daylight Art, Wooly Rascals, Leland Gallery, Silver Art 9.25, Beadzilla, Shir, Golden Sun, Catch The Light, Carol Kramer, Wonder Oil, Slate Art, Silver Prod/Gourds, Learn & Play, Sonia Quilts, Origami, Blue Moon, Freckled Food, Rock Art, Andria Ciak, Robert Steiner, Judy Berandon, David & Lisa Mejia, Rubina Designs, Lillian Montoya, The Real Insect, and many more.

Nonprofit participants include Community United (Starbird & Alma Community Centers), EDRC, Autism Awareness, Friends of the Wine Makers, Tapestry Arts, The County of Santa Clara Parks and Recreation, Santa Clara County Model T Club Cars, History San Jose, The Children’s Musical Theater, UCCE Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County, Vivace Youth Chorus of San Jose, ‘Do The Hustle’ TV show by Delaurian Productions, The Lana Clarkson Memorial School of Music, Teen Force, and many more.

There will be a diverse array of food, beer, soft drinks and wine available for purchase, including Whitings Food, Dipping Dots, Cali-Pop, Fruit Fritz, Thai Kabob BBQ, Mainstreet Food Concession, Carmen’s Taqueria, Baratt’s Lemonade, Suitcase Ron’s Kettle Korn Revue, Mediterranean Shawarma & Kebab.

The San Jose Earthquakes’ Ambassador, Kelly Gray, and professional players with the Kelly Gray Soccer Academy, will be on hand for autographs and scrimmages also including women’s professional soccer player Kassie Doubrava Gray.

Entertainment includes bellydancing performances and lessons by Setareh & Hala’s Dance Troupe, singer/songwriter Michael Annuzzi, Cadillac Jack, performances by Dance Theatre International, Reggae Sensation Michael Annotti, Comcast Channel 15 Pilot and all day-Saturday auditions, Ricki with Salsa Dance Now with DJ JazzyJess, DJ Mundo & DJ Wayne, performance and lessons at the Latin Dance Plaza, Santa Clara Valley Model T Ford Club’s cars, author Kathryn Besser’s, Dirt & Sunshine, reading and signing, Pete G. The Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County will feature a tour of the newly planted garden at the Umbarger House in History Park. The Master Gardener Hotline participants will be available to ask about pests in your garden or any gardening questions. Children’s gardening activities will be featured in the Children’s Area withTapestry Arts’ Design for Living vendors and sponsors as well.

Children’s activities will provide entertainment by Andy Z, Kids Creativity Art Zone, Shelly’s Style face painting and Henna designs. Junior Battle of the Bands will feature the music of Black & Blue, The Feds, Black Bones, among others.

Other activities include a Silent Auction and Charity Event, Opportunity Drawings, San Jose Police Officer’s Horses and K-9 units, Fire Trucks & Ambulances for kids to see, The Los Gatos Porsche Club showcase of cars, and The Ferrari Club of Los Gatos showcase of cars.

The trolley will be running throughout the park and ice cream is being served inside O’Brien’s Café. As every weekend, there will be trolley rides on Saturdays and Sundays. Treat ice cream featured in O’Brien’s Café, and the Print Shop is open every Saturday and Sunday. The Leonard and David McKay Gallery features “Celebrating Local Artists: The 5th Anniversary of the McKay Gallery” and the Pacific Hotel Gallery houses “Nature’s Beloved Son—Rediscovering John Muir’s Botanical Legacy.”

HSJ memberships fees begin at $50. *Admission to History Park is free to all members, except for special events or an event by an outside vendor.

Admission is $5 and children under 13 enter free. City parking is $6.
