“Black Gold” Nephrite Jade Earrings-$149-EarNeph1

Premium “Black Gold” Nephrite Jade Earrings

These California Black Nephrite Earrings are filled with “Gold”. Coming from the Sierra Nevada Mountain foothills, right in the middle of Gold Country, there is nephrite jade to be found and some, if you’re lucky, will have “Gold” imbedded in the jade. Not to be confused with Iron Pyrite that looks like gold but under magnification Iron Pyrite looks like little cubes and squares. Real gold shows up like specs and flakes. The color of gold within this black jade matches the 24K Heavy Gold-Plated Sterling Silver Hammered Ear Wire that comes with these “Sail” shaped earrings. Polishing this jade is real tricky as the gold melts and smudges under the high heat of polishing jade. I do detail work well and you will not find scratches or un-polished edges including a deburred hole for the gold ring on top of each earring.

  1. Not to be contrary, but that is, in fact, pyrite flecks in that nephrite. Pyrite doesn’t always show itself in exactly cubic form. 🙂 The brassy tone gives it away as pyrite as well. I own quite a few ‘pyrite in nephrite’ specimens I’ve collected, myself, from here in Washington State. They’re beautiful earrings nonetheless! 🙂

    1. Hi there,

Thank you for your comments. You could be right as I have not tested it. I too have nephrites with iron pyrite but most I can see cubes or sharp angles when polished. I also took a guess as there is a nephrite material that was takes south of this location at about the same elevation that was tested to have gold, platinum and silver in it. Washington has a lot of mixed nephrites as you know. A lot of serpentine in the mix and serpentine is notorious for having iron pyrite in it. It’s all good. Thank you!
